Parent Support COVID-19


Hi my name is Cleo Barnes and I am the founder of Space2Parent.

It has been a passion of mine to create a place for parents where they can get the space, time and information they need to help them through their parenting journey.  It is therefore a great pleasure to be able to work with Whitnash Primary School offering parents access to help when they most need it.

During this very uncertain time of Covid-19, school closure and self-isolation, our homes have become a hot house of many demands and expectations.  Children are expected to complete their school work, stay entertained, not see their friends and remain calm and manageable.  Whilst parents are juggling working from home, caring for family members and financial uncertainties, along with fears of our own and our family’s health and well-being. This is a unique experience and for many individuals and families it can create much tension and emotional turmoil within the home, leaving us feeling isolated and overwhelmed.

It is with this in mind that Whitnash Primary School would like to continue to offer parents, grandparents and carers of their students the support and help they may need during this time.  It has never been more important to stay connected and to have a place to go when we feel stressed out.  That is why Whitnash Primary School is keen to offer you (their parents and carers) a supportive service that provides both useful information, guidance and a listening ear.

The benefit of online support

Support groups offer a unique opportunity for parents to come together and share their stories in a safe environment.  Each group (no larger than 4 people) is facilitated by a professional counsellor who is trained in the art of effective listening, who can provide an empathic, non-judgemental space for you to talk and listen to others.  


Support groups:

  • Offer a space to share experiences, feelings and coping strategies.

  • Reduce feelings of isolation, loneliness and judgment.

  • Helps to alleviate stress, anxiety, low mood and gain a sense of empowerment and control.
